ASME Standard Fusible Plugs

Fusible plugs are a warning device in the event of the water level falling dangerously low.  

Fusible plugs conform to ASME standards and meet U.S. Coast Guard requirements.

They are filled with pure tin and feature a melting point between 445 and 450 degrees F.

• Replace fusible plugs every 500 hours.
• If hours cannot be validated, replace every 3 years per NBIC S2.8.4
• Fusible plug life shall not exceed ten calendar years.
• Leaking fusible plugs must be replaced.
• Fusible plugs cannot be refilled.
• Use a socket wrench to install and remove fusible plugs to prevent distortion of the casing.
